ASSU Strike: NASU, SSANU to Embark on a 3 days Protest
The Joint Action Committee JAC of NASU and SSANU has declared it’s intention to embark on a three days warning strike in all her brances across the country.
This was in response to the inability of the federal government to address various agreements enshrined in the memorandum of understanding (Mou) signed by both parties on the 20th October, 2020 at the federal ministy of labour and employment.
Part of the issue discussed include inconsistencies in the IPPIS payment system, Non payment of Earned allowance, Non payment of arrears of minimum wage, Delay in renegotiation of the FGN/ NASU and SSANU 2009 agreements as well as non-payment of retirement benefits for outgone members among others
In view of these developments, the association in a meeting held on 8th of January 2021 made several resolutions notably among which include that a general meeting be held on Monday 11th, in all brances of Universities and inter-university centers.
As part of the resolution, the Joint academic committee also decided that a three days Protest beginning from the Tuesday, 12th of January to Friday 14th, 2021 will hold at each branch from 8:00am to 4:00pm each day.
Meanwhile the protest could just be the beginning of series of Industrial actions to be undertaken by the JAC as members are asked to await further instructions after the three days warning protest
