Meet the Two UI Graduates who Emerged as 2021 Rhodes Scholars to Oxford University
The saying “If it is from Ibadan, it must be of outstanding quality” gained further credence in Ghana on 5 December 2020 as the two awardees of the Rhodes Scholarship domiciled at Oxford University hailed from UI.
Chinyere Elizabeth Nwarueze (LL.B set 2018) and Boluwatife Ndidiamaka Ikwunne (MBBS set 2019) emerged 2021 Rhodes Scholars-Elect above 2,632 applicants from West Africa.
Inaugurated in 1903, the Rhodes Scholarship is the oldest and most prestigious graduate scholarship in the world.
As one of UI recent graduates and d finest minds Chinyere Elizabeth Nwarueze is a decorated public speaker and best graduating Law student with a first class earned in the 2018. She had also previously been a 2019 British Council Future Leaders Connect Award winner.
Boluwatife Ndidiamaka Ikwunne graduated as a doctor in 2019 with the rare feat of a distinction in Psychiatry. She has a penchant for demystifying mental illness and has published in reputable journals.
